I agreed to a fake date and accidentally met my husband

A friend begged me to go with her brother to a wedding because his ex would be there and he didn’t want to show up alone. I said yes mostly because there was free food. We agreed beforehand to keep it simple. Hold hands if necessary, smile for photos, absolutely no weird fake relationship stuff. Then halfway through dinner, he leaned over and whispered, “This is going suspiciously well.” I laughed so hard I nearly spit out my wine. We ended up dancing until the venue closed. The next morning he texted, “So, when do we stop pretending?” That was five years ago. We still joke that our first date had a dress code and 120 witnesses. submitted by /u/Sea_Assist7782 [link] [comments]

Dom Tom does not lose.

I spent 5 years in prison for assault. Overall it wasn't that bad, you keep your head down and do the occasional favor like buying chips for your group and all is good. Of course there's the occasional new blood that comes in looking to start a fight for some respect or the rival gang that has one of its members disrespected looking to get even, fighting would happen at least once a week. I'd fight too for cigarettes and gym rights but when I look back on it now I regret it. Not to mention the after effects that came with it, once you start fighting in there everybody wants a shot at you to earn some respect. From what I saw thought nobody could go the distance, the second a guy started fighting he'd get picked apart by the other tough guys until he couldn't fight no more and got beat up. It was a gauntlet that nobody (myself included) could survive. You win some you lose some that's how life went in our yard... Then Tom Arrived, and everything changed. Tom sho...

I stalk people for a living. Here’s what most people get wrong about it.

I work as a stalker. Believe me or don't. And no, I don't call myself that because it sounds dramatic. It's simply the most accurate description of what I do. When I tell people about it, one of two things usually happens. Some laugh because they think I'm joking. Others start asking questions I have no intention of answering. Almost everyone imagines the same thing - some guy in a hoodie standing outside his ex-girlfriend's window at night, taking pictures on his phone and sending hundreds of messages. Reality is much more boring than that. That's exactly why it works. If the person you're watching knows you exist, you've already done something wrong. No chases. No men in black suits. No tinted cars sitting across from the same apartment building for a week. Most of the time, nothing happens at all. You just slowly learn somebody else's life. At first it seems chaotic. Then you start noticing repetition. Everyone has it. One person buys coffee from...

I refuse to have sex with my partner

so I have been with my partner going on three years. in the beginning it was all fun and dandy, you know, the “honeymoon phase” of course we had sex often originally and then it slowed down dramatically during the first half of the first year. I didn’t understand why? And it concerned me only because she teases me SO MUCH and finds it very fun to do so, but then she will deflect any advances. Which confused me and also felt very hurtful. I’ve tried having this talk with her many times over and I always get different answers and she always gets upset. “Well maybe I’m not attracted to you” or “i don’t know why I do it, but I just think it’s fun” or many other reasonings. fast forward to today. She initiated sex for the first time in forever and when I asked her why she had done that? Keep in mind I love her to DEATH, I’m ok if we don’t have sex honestly, I’ve come to terms with that. but she responded “well you do so much for me, I feel like I owe you. Even though I don’t want to have s...

Either Your The Smartest Drug Dealer I Ever Met Or…

Many years ago I was in the middle of a very nasty Custody battle. My kids mother was unstable to start with, then she started taking drugs which made her go off the edge. while at work I stepped outside to smoke a cigarette. There was a Police Officer walking around my truck. I asked if I could help him. Officer replied that someone called in a report that a person was observed putting something on the truck then driving away. I knew immediately what was going on. My ex had previously vandalized my truck and my house. She left what she thought were drugs on my porch and under my rear bumper and under the gas flap. The woman who sold her the “Drugs” told me that the brown powder in the small plastic bags was Coco powder and the White powder was crushed drywall. They were portioned out so it would appear that I was selling them. The Marajuana was real, and I never found out what the white pills were. She told me this because they had a falling out shortly after they both got released f...

I went on a date last week. She let me unzip her.

First dates in 2026 are something I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy. I’ve been on quite a few this year, and I swear it’s like each one was worse than the last. That’s why, when my date last week was actually going pretty well, I allowed myself to feel a little bit of hope. We matched on Tinder, of course, because where else would we have met? She only had like three photos on her profile, which, not gonna lie, made me a bit suspicious that she was a bot. In actuality, she happened to be the most sparkling conversationalist I’ve ever come across on one of those apps. It wasn’t until last week that I finally got to meet her in person. We’d literally FaceTimed every night after matching, but I was still preparing myself to be catfished. I don’t know. I’m paranoid. With a racing mind and heart, I waited in the parking lot of the restaurant for her to show up. Finally, I got the text. We found each other and, to my relief, she wasn’t just the same woman from the photos. She looked even ...

I delivered a truckload of rats to a transfer station

I’m a roll-off garbage truck driver. The transfer station at my yard only handles cardboard, but people hide garbage underneath it. The station separates the garbage and puts it into a 40-yard bin. The place has a massive rat problem. I actually hate dumping even cardboard there because there are rats running everywhere. And these aren’t little rats, they’re fucking huge. I rarely ever dump that 40-yard bin. Today, the guy loaded it onto my truck, I tarped it and headed to another transfer station. On the highway, I look in my mirror and see the two cars behind me swerving all over the road. Then I realize rats are jumping out of my bin and onto the highway. It was literally a scene straight out of a fucking movie. Rats flying out of the bin, cars swerving everywhere, and me sitting there wondering what the hell I had just unleashed. I get to the other transfer station and now I have to open the doors. I was fucking pissing myself. I smack the doors open and sprint back to my truck. L...

Insane bad luck

My grandparents know a family that moved from Minnesota to Oregon to get away from the tornadoes that they had there, but after they moved a freak tornado formed and went over their house destroying it. submitted by /u/Alien-Pro [link] [comments]

I got stuck at a customer’s place during the 2025 blizzard and somehow spent two nights with her

During the 2026 Rhode Island blizzard, I was working at a convenience store. We were getting ready to close early because the weather was getting ridiculous. There was this woman who used to come into the store pretty often. We’d talked before, so we knew each other a little, but it wasn’t like we were dating or anything. She came in right before we closed. We started talking about the storm, and she told me the travel ban was about to go into effect. Then she randomly invited me to stay at her place because she didn’t want me trying to drive home once the ban started. I was like, “Uh… okay.” So I went. Probably not the most normal decision I’ve ever made, but whatever. 😂 Once I got there, I realized she drank a lot. Like, I knew she drank before, but I didn’t realize how much until I was actually there. The funny thing is, though, she was actually really cool. We got along really well. We were talking, laughing, joking around, just having a good time. Eventually it got late and we e...

Well...that's over now.

Just had the funeral service for my grandmother the other day, and boy was it hard to keep a straight face. We had friends, family and family friends attend. The service didn't start until the first song ended, and I already shed some tears. The song they played was "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan, and a lot of the attendees, including myself and my family started crying. Then we had a couple of people up to give tribute speeches, and once they ended, the celebrant read out the poem that my grandfather wrote for her and once that was done, they ended the service with "Fly High" by Dolly Parton. As the lefthand side of the room left for the food hall, I watched as the curtain closed on my grandmother's coffin submitted by /u/OPAutobot5 [link] [comments]

Doctors thought I was in end stage kidney failure today

On Monday I went to the clinic to get medication refills and a check up. I had iron deficiency a few months ago so I asked for bloodwork to check up on that. Today, Friday. I had a dermatologist appointment because i have eczema. I go sit in the waiting room and they call me into the assessment room, they do their routine: checking blood pressure, getting my weight, etc. They tell me to come back to the assessment room once im done with my appointment because my bloodwork came back abnormal. I get my dermatologist appointment done, nothing out of the ordinary and i go back to the assessment room. I assumed my iron deficiency was back so I wasn’t worried but they tell me to sit in the waiting room until a room is available for me. A little odd but okay. Eventually they place me in a clinic room and I continue waiting. The doctor comes in after 25 minutes but his demeanour was somber and tense. I still didn’t think anything of it, I assumed he just acts like that but suddenly he looks ...

My senior coworker kept calling me at 9 PM, so I called him at 2 AM

I have a senior coworker who’s also a professor, and he has this habit of calling me after work, usually around 9 or 10 PM. Sometimes it’s actually work-related, sometimes he just wants to talk about upcoming activities. Last night, he called me again around 9 PM. I didn’t answer. He then sent me the schedule for the upcoming palaro and added, “Call me when you’re available.” Something about that message annoyed me so much that I decided to be petty. I waited until 2 AM and called him. He answered. He was absolutely pissed. He told me I was being disrespectful of other people’s time and that I had no business calling someone at 2 in the morning. I apologized and told him I understood. Meanwhile, I was trying so hard not to laugh because for once, he was the one getting an unreasonable work call. I may have won the battle, but I have a feeling I just lost next semester’s schedule. submitted by /u/hottest_chickkk [link] [comments]

life works in weird ways sometimes

My dad had a crush on a girl back in school in Pakistan in the 90s. He liked her but was too shy to approach her. Then one day he finally decided he was going to talk to her, but before he could, one of his friends confessed to her. They started hanging out, and that was pretty much the end of my dad's chances. He was heartbroken, and in 1996 he left Pakistan to study in Germany and start a new life. In 1998, he met my mom. They eventually moved to the US in 2002, got married, and had me and my brother. Fast forward to 2023, my parents decided to separate. Me and my brother were okay with it, and life just continued. Then something completely unexpected happened. My dad was in Pakistan when he developed a heart problem and went to see a doctor. The doctor turned out to be the same girl he had a crush on in school. They recognized each other. This woman had obviously lived a whole life too. She had been married, had two kids, and eventually divorced after an abusive marriage. My da...

My boss pays me an absurd amount of money to sweep his warehouse. He only has one strict rule about the covered mirrors.

I was drowning in debt and completely desperate for money so I started looking for overnight work to support my day job. I found a listing online for a night-shift security cleaner at an isolated antique furniture restoration warehouse located on the outskirts of town. The pay was ridiculously high and the requirements were minimal so I drove out there the next day to meet the owner for an interview. His name was Vincent and he was a wealthy antique dealer who spoke very softly and dressed in expensive tailored suits that looked completely out of place in a dusty warehouse. He walked me through the building during our interview and showed me endless rows of Victorian couches and mahogany dining tables covered in protective plastic sheeting. Vincent explained that the job was mostly just polishing the restored furniture and sweeping the concrete floors to keep the dust settling to a minimum so the antiques stayed pristine for his buyers. Then he took me down a freight elevator to the b...

An evil energy came into my room the other night and I have never been more terrified in my entire life.

The other night I decided to take what was about 4G of shrooms. It was one of the most if not the most intense trip I have ever had in my life. But it wasn’t because of the cool visuals. It was what the shrooms allowed me to sense and feel. I was chilling with my cat after taking my dose and I was having an absolutely amazing time. I was enjoying my phone, the cool visuals on the wall etc. Everything was going how I wanted it to. But something happened around 3:45-4:30 AM. It was the single most terrifying experience that I have ever been through ever. And I don’t think what I saw was a hallucination. I’m a pretty experienced person when it comes to psychedelics but the emotion and gut instinct that I felt was all too real. I simply couldn’t mistake it for anything but reality. I was looking at my phone and watching this video was showing images of the stars and galaxies. And slowly while I was still ascending I began to see countless faces in the stars. Faces of people and things I h...

I Died for 4 Minutes. I Came Back Wrong.

The doctors called it a miracle. My heart stopped on the operating table—four minutes, flatline—then boom, back. My wife cried. My mom flew in. Everyone hugged me like I'd been resurrected. Here's the thing though. I remember those four minutes. It wasn't black. It wasn't heaven. It was a room. Windowless. Fluorescent lights buzzing. A man in a gray suit sitting across from me at a metal table. "Congratulations," he said. "You're being reassigned." "To what?" Your body. Someone else had it. They quit." I laughed. "That's not how it works." He slid a folder across the table. Photos. Me—but not me. Same face. Same scar on my chin. But the eyes were different. Cold. Empty. "That was Marcus," he said. "He drove your body for eleven years. Good worker. But he got tired of your life. Your marriage. Your job. Your sad little routines." "Wait—" "He requested a transfer. You're the repla...

The House at the End of the Street

There's an old house at the very end of my street. Nobody knows exactly how old it is. Some say it was already standing when their grandparents were young. The strangest thing about it isn't the house. It's what people say happened there. Every evening, without fail, the house used to come alive. Cars would arrive just before sunset. Men in expensive suits would walk through the front door carrying bottles of whiskey. Cigarette smoke would pour from the windows. Someone was always laughing. There was food everywhere. Expensive food. Loud conversations. Music. And apparently, the parties lasted all night. My grandfather once told me, "That house never slept." Then, one day, it stopped. No announcement. No goodbye. The cars stopped coming. The lights disappeared. The windows stayed dark. Decades passed. The house remained standing at the end of the street, enormous and silent, like it was waiting for someone who had forgotten to come back. Last week, I walked past ...

My sister read my diary and told my mom my secrets. So I donated her $800 concert ticket to a animal shelter.

My younger sister Chloe has zero concept of boundaries. She’s 19 and still thinks my room is an extension of her personal property. Last week, she went into my room, found my journal, read the entire thing, and then ran to my mom to tell her about a guy I’ve been casually seeing. It was a massive breach of trust, but when I confronted her, she just laughed and said, "Don't write secrets down if you don't want people to know them." I didn't scream. I didn't cry. I waited. Chloe had been bragging for three months about a VIP ticket she bought to see her favorite artist. The concert was last night. She was paranoid about losing her digital ticket, so she printed a physical copy and left it sitting on the kitchen counter for a week. While she was in the shower, I took the printed ticket. I drove to the local animal shelter and donated it to their silent auction fundraiser. I didn't tell a soul. I drove her to the concert last night. She was vibrating with exc...

I found a note under my windshield wiper that said “Don’t go home tonight.

I almost threw it away. It was just a folded piece of printer paper tucked under my windshield wiper when I left work Tuesday night. No name. No explanation. Just: DON’T GO HOME TONIGHT. TRUST ME. My first thought was that it was some stupid prank. My second thought was that someone had been watching me. I sat in my car for probably five minutes trying to decide what to do. Eventually, I laughed it off. I drove home. About three blocks from my apartment, I got a phone call from an unknown number. I answered. Nobody spoke. I said, “Hello?” Silence. Then the line went dead. I pulled into my apartment complex and noticed something strange. My front door was slightly open. I always lock it. Always. I didn't get out of the car. Instead, I called my landlord. He lived in the building next door, so he came over with a flashlight and his spare key. We opened the door together. Nothing looked stolen. Laptop still there. TV still there. Wallet on the kitchen counter. Everything normal. Exce...

Think like an owner.

Yesterday, our CEO called a meeting of the entire department. He displayed a slide on the screen: "THINK LIKE AN OWNER." I sat closer. For the first time in a long time, the meeting's title suggested I might leave with something more than just an extra task. I took out a pen. - I'd like us to change our approach to work, the director began. - We can't function in a way where everyone only looks at their own job description. I liked it even more. The job description was one of my favorite documents. Right after the salary notification. - We need an ownership approach. Responsibility. Commitment. Long-term thinking. I want everyone to treat this company like their own. I raised my hand. The director smiled. - I'm listening, he said. - When will we get our shares? His smile stayed. But it stopped growing. - We're not talking about those things right now, he replied. - I'm sorry, I heard "like my own" and moved toward ownership straightaway. ...
