My dad had a crush on a girl back in school in Pakistan in the 90s. He liked her but was too shy to approach her. Then one day he finally decided he was going to talk to her, but before he could, one of his friends confessed to her. They started hanging out, and that was pretty much the end of my dad's chances. He was heartbroken, and in 1996 he left Pakistan to study in Germany and start a new life. In 1998, he met my mom. They eventually moved to the US in 2002, got married, and had me and my brother. Fast forward to 2023, my parents decided to separate. Me and my brother were okay with it, and life just continued. Then something completely unexpected happened. My dad was in Pakistan when he developed a heart problem and went to see a doctor. The doctor turned out to be the same girl he had a crush on in school. They recognized each other. This woman had obviously lived a whole life too. She had been married, had two kids, and eventually divorced after an abusive marriage. My dad, who had failed to approach her as a teenager, finally asked her out almost 30 years later. Last year, he asked me, my brother, and my mom if we'd be okay with him marrying her. We all said yes. And in July 2026, my dad married the same girl he had a crush on in school. They got married in Lake Como, Italy. The weirdest part to me isn't even that they got back together. It's that they both lived completely separate lives for decades, in different countries, through marriages, kids, divorce, and everything else life throws at you. Then my dad happens to have a heart problem while he's in Pakistan, walks into a doctor's office, and his doctor turns out to be the girl he never had the courage to approach in school. And this time, he actually asked her out. Life has some seriously weird timing. submitted by /u/Odd_Style_149 [link] [comments]
