I have been living in the French countryside for a few years now, and I have noticed that American houses are crap.

The result: damaged roof tiles and a few structural elements that needed to be replaced. In the United States, the house would have been cut in half.
Seriously, we are told that houses are built with wood and paper because it is easy to replace and less expensive. First of all, it is not even less expensive, and **YOU LIVE IN THEM.** In what world is it a good idea to build a house that will fall on your head at the slightest storm because it's easy to replace?
